First, we believe that God created sex to be a part of a healthy marriage between a man and a woman.  We don’t try to make you believe like we do, but this is how we will approach the issues.  We believe that God created marriage with 3 purposes.

1. Bonding-There is no other earthly act that bonds 2 people like sex does.

2. Pro Creation- part of the purpose of sex is to make babies, but not the only purpose

3. Pleasure- God created our sex drive and wants us to feel pleasure in it

The church and the world have not done a great job about teaching us how to have a healthy sex life.  Too often the church has used guilt, shame, and fear to teach us that our bodies are bad and that sex is dirty or just for a man.  The world tries to teach us that it is purely a physical act with no spiritual significance. Because of this all of us enter into marriage with some level of sexual trauma.  For some it is low level trauma and sadly for many it is more serious trauma that comes out of sexual abuse.

To combat these ways of thinking we must have a safe place where we can talk about sex with our spouse.  Roy and Julie will work with you to create a safe space where EACH of you can tell your sexual story so your spouse knows what is happening with you. Generally we prefer to have both spouses present so that they can hear each other and their stories.  But we are willing to work with just one of you if that is what is needed.
